Target Audience: Teachers, Principals, Instructional Supervisors, Instructional Coaches, Superintendents

Presenter: Dr. Roger Cleveland and Team  (Ramona Karsner, CKEC)

 

This workshop introduces and builds on the following concepts; cultural humility, cultural responsiveness and implicit bias. Participants will explore their own experiences and perceptions and how those factors influence our policies, practices and programs in schools. The session will examine the aforementioned concepts through a mix of short illustrations, engaging activities, and reflective discussions.

 

Expected Outcomes:

 

  • Participants will have a deeper understanding of their own perceptions and how those perceptions influence teaching and learning.
  • Participants will have an increased knowledge of how cultural humility, cultural responsiveness and implicit bias can directly or indirectly impact to student achievement.
  • Participants will be better prepared to interact a different cultural context in diverse educational settings.
