Are you looking for ideas to increase participation and access to reading for your students with complex communication needs and physical access challenges? This course will examine ways to make reading not only accessible to students but also interactive and motivating! We will investigate ways to increase access to reading using multiple access methods utilizing both low-tech and high-tech methods including computer access. This course will also support the five critical areas of reading development and construct ways to embed within alternative access methods as well as ideas for students with visual and auditory impairments. We will compare and contrast the importance of a learner-centered approach when creating reading opportunities and exploring topics to engage students. Whether you work with preschool to high school students, this course will help you to create accessible, inspiring reading opportunities to expand knowledge, explore new ideas, and make life-long readers.
