7/8/2021 Designing Explicit Instruction Math Lessons

Target Audience: Special education teachers, general education teachers o students with disabilities, instructional coaches, administrators

This professional learning opportunity will explore the principles behind effective explicit instruction, considered a fundamental practice of Specially Designed Instruction (SDI).  Participants will have the opportunity to create math lessons for their classroom using the elements of explicit instruction.  

 

The training will occur in two parts.  There will be a face-to-face component on July 8, 2021.  There will also be a live online component on Sept. 8, 2021 (from 3:30-5:00 pm ET), via Zoom. (Note: there will be a separate registration for the online session.) 

 

The focus of the first day will be on designing lessons to teach skills & strategies, vocabulary, and classroom routines.

The focus on the online component will be on feedback and other elements of explicit instruction, especially any needs identified by the participants.  Opportunities for additional follow-up will also be considered.

 

This session is appropriate for all grade levels.
