Target Audience: Teacher and SLP Teams of student(s) with communication needs are recommended.

Everyday experiences are opportunities to develop literacy skills and concepts. Building literacy around personal experiences supports students to make connections in a meaningful way.   This hybrid Professional Development is meant to increase engagement of students with complex learning needs through the use of literacy extensions. During this session participants will create their own experience books and bags.  Participants will plan for and develop implementation for their own students.  Participants will be able to earn between 3 – 4 hours of PD based on pre and post live session work.  Upon registration more information will be sent.  SLP CEU’s and EILA will be applied for.

Thank you for registering for the virtual professional development titled “ Literacy Extensions for Students with Complex Needs”.  This virtual session will be held on Friday, July10 from 9:30am – 11:30am ET

 

On July 3, participants will be provided the content that will need to be reviewed prior to the live session on July 10.  This review of content will earn 1 hour of PD time for participants.  

 

If participants want the materials to make the items in the session, there will be a non-contact pick up at CKEC between the hours of 9:30am – 11:30am ET on Tuesday, July 7 and Wednesday, July 8.  More information on the pick-up process will be sent via email on July 3. 

 

Upon completion of the live session on July 10, participants will be awarded 2 hours of Professional Development   

After the July 10 session, participants will be able to make follow-up materials and earn up to 1 additional hour of PD.
