Every Social Story is defined by criteria that outline the characteristics of the Story and the process that parents and professionals follow to develop and implement it.  In other words, to determine if a story is a Social Story requires a review of the document AND the process used to create and implement it.  The second criterion requires parents and professionals to gather information from a variety of sources.  This preliminary investigation determines the Story topic as well as its focus, length, vocabulary, illustration, and more, yet it is often overlooked, minimized, or skipped altogether.  In many cases gathering information reveals an unforeseen solution to an issue or concern, and a Story is not needed or advisable.  This session gives unprecedented attention to this critical step in the Social Story process.  For questions on this session please contact Sally Miracle at sally.miracle@ckec.org.
